My Purpose

(based on the intersection of the above three items)

To define the unknown, visualize the not yet seen, and help make sense of the new terrain.

What is something you love to do outside of work?

Draw. I make traditional hand-drawn animation and love to clock a few hours over my lightbox, pencil in hand.

What is your favorite movie and why?

It’s a Wonderful Life, because it’s so satisfying to watch. The story is 2 hours of building tension as you’re waiting, knowing that George Bailey’s luck will eventually turn. But when things bottom out, unlike other movies, it’s like you’re actually removed from this narrative arc (as George literally is) and left in a dark reality outside the celluloid, from Hollywood to Potterville. When George yells ‘I want to live again!’, his big come-up and the final resolution are even more triumphant.

If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would you do?

Jump the grand canyon on my bicycle, wearing a leather-fringe jumpsuit. Or make a feature-length animation.

If I want to get you talking, what should I ask you about?

Grad school, cats, movies.
